What a jump from its younger brother the RS50, well the look is practically the same, but obviously great power difference. To start, the RS50 is an over-priced heap of un-reliable wanna be superbike! Not to mention its Snail-Pace acceleration. OK, this may beat most 50cc's, but a couple of my mates had them and I had a new Yamaha TZR50, which left them standing! Also, the fact that this bike can do 70-75mph, is utter nonsense. One of my mates had an RS50 (R reg), and we couldn't beat one another on top speed, we were both pushing 67mph, down the dual-carriage way (speed limit was 70mph!). So i suppose this isnt far of it, but on the straight and up ... Read the complete review

When i bought this bike it was restricted and felt fast until i was learning on 650`s. Then it wasnt good and you never expected what was coming next. You pass your test and get the blanking plate off. WOW!! Then it`s fun and is a bike that needs your full attention. Lose concentration and it will bite you but keep with it and it`ll be the best buzz of your life. Th Aprilia bike`s really are just racing bikes with lights and indicators so do take note that they need a lot of attention. They are not so good when you are running them in because when restricted they are really slow. You realise why when you have it de-restricted. It is 12bhp with top speed available ... Before I start I have to say that this is my friend's opinion because it's his bike so the following is not written by me: The first thing you encounter when you get on the bike is the weight, which is only 130kg. The first time I had to drive away was fairly difficult. You need to have the rpm in the 8000 plus area to get the bike moving. After a few days of almost solid, back breaking riding I got the trick and it started to get more fun. The sound is high and energetic (if a tiny bit squeeky). It forces you up to race away at the traffic lights, instead of moving along with the cars. The seating position is sporty and well enough, if you are no ... Read the complete review

I had an unrestricted RS125 for 12 months or so. It has a very narrow power band that would be very difficult for newcomers to utilise. The six speed gearbox is smooth and positive, but you will find yourself using it a lot! The machine used Super Unleaded petrol too, not only expensive but also becoming harder to find in the UK. The recommended synthetic oils are expensive - but don't use anything else or you will risk the highly tuned engine. I could just scrape 100 mph on a good day! Only the Cagiva Mito is in the same league when it comes to handling, but the riding position is only suited for short (fast) journeys. The ... Read the complete review

I bought an Italian imported RS125 to learn on and soon discovered (according to my local Aprilia dealer) had been race tuned, cool! For a bike that you can ride after having only passed your CBT (who couldn't) it's a cracker. Very typical 2 stroke on-off power delivery, my one had enough power to potter around on but as soon as you hit 6,500RPM it tried to rip your arms off! This lack of torque below the power band made it all little annoying around town but with incredible acceleration for a 125cc motor and a top speed in excess of 100mph I couldn't really complain. The bike is quite small and very light, but despite being 6' ... Read the complete review
