Advantages: Throw it about with ease.
Disadvantages: Expensive and needs looking after
When i bought this bike it was restricted and felt fast until i was learning on 650`s. Then it wasnt good and you never expected what was coming next. You pass your test and get the blanking plate off. WOW!! Then it`s fun and is a bike that needs your full attention. Lose concentration and it will bite you but keep with it and it`ll be the best buzz of your life. Th Aprilia bike`s really are just racing bikes with lights and indicators so do take note that they need a lot of attention. They are not so good when you are running them in because when restricted they are really slow. You realise why when you have it de-restricted. It is 12bhp with top speed available when restricted but takes a while to get up there. Get it on an A-road though and thrash it then you will love it even though its not full spec. When you remove the blanking plate, thats when the real bike comes out. This is a shocker when you first ride into the power band then it flicks you backwards and roars down the road. It is possible to go above 105mph but you have to have bottle because at top speed the bike does not feel that safe. Who would at that speed anyway? The comfort is not there on the seat area but when you are leant over that tank and out in the country your moving your backside around to much anyhow. This bike can be thrown around bends easily and with great fun. There isnt much in acceleration but the handling is tops and is hard to be beat. I had an SP(sports performance version)which had 38bhp then 41bhp with an Arrow race pipe. The standard bike has 34bhp. It used leaded petrol and needed a re-fill every 100 miles(12ltr tank). The full sythentic oil is expensive and it needed it every 2 months. It is noisey and can sound like a lawn mower but is one of the most enjoyable fun bikes out there. It is NOT a commuter and hates cold weather. The clutch lets in water when cold and then needs a drain. If you use it a lot then it will need comforting and attending to very o
ften but it is worth it if you have the money and the know how. This bike is highly enjoyable and i dont half miss mine. Brakes are great and the response on the handling is fantastic but you always have to clutch it and rev to get anywhere so dont expect an easy ride. One wicked bike!!!!
