i have had my aprilia rs50 for about 5 months now and its the best bike any1 could ever get, its amazing handleing and great acceleration and fun fast high top speed. i have a 2000 reg rs50, it has the full redbull graphics and i have had 85mph out of it, it have 80cc big bore kit, 21mm uprated carb, full carbon fibre arrow exhaust system, race crankshaft, and i have just had the engine race tuned, i would recomend one of these bikes to any one. if anyone can help me and give me some more idears what i could do to my bike, ect uprated clutch or anything, please email me on, matty603@hotmail.com. or leave me a comment, thanks any help will be great thanks ...  Read the complete review

I am 16 and come from Lincoln, in early Febuary i brought a second hand Aprilia RS 50 Extrema 1994, it was an import from Italy. When i first brought the bike it was de-restricted, had a problem of jumping out of 3rd gear and sometimes wouldnt go in at all. It also had all the cosmetic damage you would expect from an 11year old bike. My dad being a merchanic sorted out the problems with the bike and also touched up the paint work. Was then a good looking bike. I brought my 2002 RS50 about a year ago privately for £1500. It was in excellent condition and looks superb - without a doubt the best 50cc bike money can buy. It already had a performance exhaust and air filter fitted and can reach about 65mph. Before I got the bike people told me Aprilia's are unreliable but I use mine daily and I've never had any problems with it apart from wear and tear items like a couple of spark plugs and a new rear tyre (which cost £70!). I make sure I warm the bike up before thrashing it and treat it mainly as a 45mph not a 65mph bike as you only wear the engine quicker than normal and blow it up or and need an engine rebuild. First impressions of the RS50 usually involve the terms, 'gorgeous' and '50cc?'. As 50's go, nothing seems to beat the RS. This lightweight bike handles and looks like a 125 GP racer untill, that is, you hear the bee-like buzzing noise it makes when you roll on the throttle. De-restricted, they can reach spees of up to 70mph however properly restricted they shouldn't go faster than 33mph. For a 16 year old, it is an opportunity to be a little more self reliant and to look, well, good.
