BMW K1200RS:
... k1200RS, this bike is not a patch on any of the japanese machines i have ridden, i find my k1200 a heavy clumsy machine to ride with the exeption of motorway riding. my Yamaha R1 and Honda CBR600F are far better machines. if you want a heavy and thursty machine to get you to the south of france in a straight line well this is it, if you want a quality tourer you need to buy the RT, the K1200RS is not that good o... Other BMW... ... with an odd engine and whacky suspension, to match it s strange appearance. Not to mention the odd but useful indicator switches (one on each hand, and a cancel switch on the right) and the maintainence free shaft drive. Thing is, love it or hate it, you can t ignore it s presence in the motorcycling world. The R1200GS came out in 2004, replacing the old workhorse R1150GS. Since then BMW have improved it marginally each year, and now the latest 2008 models offer in incredible array of accessories, from heated grips, electronic suspension adjustment from the flick of a switch, all sorts of luggage options, and satelite navigation and ABS, to name a few! I own... Read the full review: BMW R1200GS: What a machine. by Jonny_L |

BMW K75 ... should have known when the old chap, selling the bike, told me the reason for selling was that he couldn’t get the large German up his inclined driveway. Yes, this was a big motorcycle all right. It was a BMW ‘K’ series, with its great big sail of a fairing and touring panniers, the BMW K75 RT to be exact. This was BMWs first romance with in line engines, back in the mid 80s and resulted in a 750cc in line 3 cylinder (as well as a 4 cylinder 1,000cc). It was a large beast and let’s name him ‘Fritz’. My life with Fritz was one of love and hate. I loved the turbine like quality of that 750cc engine it was a case of Deutchland Uber Alles; it had real road presence and sty... BMW K1200RS ... to qualify this report. I ve had a lot of bikes and have used them for fun, commuting and touring. I ve had most makes (Honda, Yamaha, CCM, Kawasaki, Ducati, Triumphs and BMW s), and some pretty fast ones too (stage 2 tuned 150 bhp CBR1100XX Blackbird). I use a bike most days and travel between 10-15 thousand miles a year on them. I use them for pleasure and as workhorses. What I say next will not sit easily with some of the more effete magazine road testers (who mostly travel to work in cars, have total access to a car park full of motorcycle exotica and don t have to spend a penny of their own hard earned on their rides). The BMW K1200RS and the K1200GT are s... Read the full review: K1200RS (and K1200GT) Review by tigger955i |
