Advantages: very fast, quiet , no 2 stroke oil
Disadvantages: too popular!
I bought I runner 125VX (4 stroke) scooter about 4 months ago and I have been very pleased with it and would never consider swapping it for any other 125 on the market. I previously had a gilera spk 50 and could only do 45mph (governed) so once I was 17 I went for the runner 125 and I cant say I haven?t had any (minor) problems with it such as the lights would not work but nothing major and all fixed under warranty. Still not as good in the wet so be careful and I would advise doing a CBT if you do not feel confident. With a top speed of around 75mph I was capable of travelling the A19 to work every morning and over taking the odd car. For the £7.50 it takes to fill the tank I was pleased with the 130mpg I was getting as I am on a apprenticeships wage. The 4 stroke motor is quieter and in my opinion just as quick as the 2 stroke motor. With the advantage of not having to fill up on 2 stroke oil. Most of my friends have the 50cc mopeds such as the MBK jaguar and the Peugeot speed fight and they were all impressed by the handling and acceleration of my runner VX. It also has the advantage of right way up forks with dual suspension. The handling is smooth and comfortable at high speeds but be careful in windy weather. Although It is capable of cutting though traffic the scoot slightly seems heavier at very slow speeds. Not very noticeable but I thought I would mention it. The disc brakes help stop the runner as quick as it can move. I was shocked to not find a kick start with it being a 4 stroke but I am told I would never need it. I still fear the day that the battery goes flat. But for the extra £40 on top of the £300 third party fire and theft insurance (17-24) you can get mechanical and electrical breakdown cover, as well as home start, accident recovery and the all important breakdown assistance. The runner also has heaters from the water cooled motor but these are more of a novelty than practical. Due to its popularity pi
aggiro have added an immobiliser but I would recommend an alarm or chain.

- 10/07/04 My hubby used to have a runner. He loved it but decided to sell it as he got a new job with a company car. |
