I came off of a 1998 Honda ACE 1100 Tourer, the Japanese Road King wanna-be. For years people would admire my bike and then ask me "Hey, what year is that Harley?", to which I would sheepishly -- but pridefully -- reply, "Actually, it's manufactured by Honda." They would politely say "Oh", and walk away. I loved my Honda -- it just wasn't a Harley! With the Road King Classic, variety and possibility is the name of the game. With the right accessories, it is a full-on dresser. But in just the same way, strip off the windshield and set up with a solo seat and you've got a sweet boulevard cruiser to make heads turn and ... Was going to buy a yamaha silverado. Took the wife to see one and decided to compare the ride with an older king (96) sitting at the dealer. We both had always loved the harley styling but remembered the late 70 s and all the quality issues that exsisted. 1 ride and we were hooked, there is no other big twin that handles or out torques the hills like this 1. We ordered an 03 and caulked up 11000 km in 1 summer. Add a screaming eagle breather kit and slash up pipes and its pure heaven. Starts every time and realiablity the japanese wish they had. Not the first bike I ever owned, but definately the BEST! - Advantages: smooth ride, nice looks, lots of power - Disadvantages: high price
