glory days of a honda cb250 (Honda CB250)
Member Name: andy collins
Advantages: could ride it on provisional licence Disadvantages: front brake lethal in wet had one of these from may 1970 till late 71 (MVS 856F i think). It was one of the first ones after the CB72, mine had a red/white tank and looked quite impressive at the time. The engine was a little gem and would keep up with my mates bonneville 650 to 60mph. I seem to remember trouble with the twin sets of points and i had to fit two sets of rings then have it rebored but i did do over 15,000 miles and was not satisfied till i saw at least 10,000 rpm in every gear, once saw 100mph in 5th on the long down hill by pass between east kibride and hamilton, no helmet, jeans and teashirt and leaning flat over the tank, dead clever. In 5th it would rev 1000 for every 10mph so cruising at 70 was 7000rpm,magic. I was in the building trade at the time(16 yr old apprentice) and most days it had a full set of flooring tools strapped onto the seat and had to cover 50/60 miles in a day in all the Scottish weather could throw at it so it must have been ok Summary: nearly 40 years ago only remember good times
