Advantages: cheap, reliable and fun

Disadvantages: vibration

I bought a CG125 as a 2nd bike 2 years ago. It's predessessor was an elderly Yamaha townmate (C90 Clone), and after the bouncy somewhat dangerous charactaristics of the Yammy, the CG125 was loverly!

The bike was a 1996 N-reg, looking rather scruffy for the age, but with a new MOT and the right price, I decided to take it on, in the belief that I would tidy it up gradually throughout my ownership. Few bikes are as easy to fix.

Performance wise, when coupled with my light-weight frame, wasn't half as bad as one might think, but for somebody significantly lardier than myself, knock down the figures.

Top speed: indicated 78mph * (65mphish)
MPG: 100mpg+ ** (up to 120MPG)

* This was admitedly downhill on A30 with one hell of a tail-wind!
** I tried pretty hard to get consumption down below 100mpg, but try as I did, could not get any worse!!
Handling was very good really, you can really chuck these little bikes around, and there very light, so fun fun fun.
Reliability wise, the engine always started 1st or 2nd time, generally excellent, but
British winters really do kill the finish, exhaust and suspension.

Very easy to ride, minimal maintainance, low running costs, engines a bit vibratory, but all things considered, still going strong, specially for a 30yr old design!
