A best seller was the CB 250 Super Dream introduced in a fanfare of publicity to an unsuspecting public circa 1978. A shock replacement for the previous 250 Dream a machine which was so ugly no teenager wanted it so it was replaced after only one year of sales one especially designed for the UK.
The Super Dream was designed for teenagers. Bikes sales were booming in those days. The 400 cc version which is the one I rode. It has an upright riding position which is comfortable even over long distances.
Electric starter and a two cylinder 4 stoke engine with 3 valves per cylinder giving 27 hp @ 10,000 rpm so sluggish. As I drove the 400 version which I found to be light and flick able a pleasant enough machine although it seemed old fashioned when I rode it nearly twenty years ago when it was only ten years old.
The top speed of around 85 mph will not be easy to reach it will take a long run. Although 70 mpg will be was possible. The 400 I rode hit 110 mph once but it blew up soon after ward
Alloy com-star wheels are fitted and they were the modern look I remember way back in the late 70's.
I saw one recently however and it still has the dullest of exhaust notes.
These bikes are now classed as classics and are sort after by some there are both versions available on E bay at the moment and they will provide very cheap transport for someone.
