I bought my 1998 pan non abs model in august 2007 with 10k on the clock its a great bike. But after riding it 200yds down the road i was really disapointed with the wind noise from the screen,I have since changed the screen to a 20" the standard is 16"but it hasnt made that much of a diference I have also bought & fitted a plate that fits under the fairing below the headlight to minimise the noise. However still getting hellish wind noise so looking for another higher screen ,But apart from that the bike has been spot on & there isnt much you cant get off ebay for them apart from a high screen.So if your looking for one of these & are under 6ft tall ...

I am currently on my second Pan. It is without doubt the best bike I have ever owned. It does all I really want from a bike. It is fast (that is 'usably fast'), forgiving, and supremely reliable. Fuel consumption is OK and the handling is good. I also ride them in connection with my job (a white one - guess what I do) and all the people on my team rate them very highly. Several own their own. I Have several friends who are MAC instructors (another clue) who also own their own Pans. I'd never knock sports bikes, classics or trailies - but if you can only afford one bike you cannot do better than a Pan. It just will not let you down. If ...

The Pan was introduced to try and diminish BMW?s control over the big tourer market, and the spin -off police, paramedic and service patrol bikes. That demanded a large capacity, comfortable, reliable and good luggage hauling machine, with a shaft drive to do away with messy chains, and loads and loads of torque to do away with having to change gear.
