I bought my 1998 pan non abs model in august 2007 with 10k on the clock its a great bike. But after riding it 200yds down the road i was really disapointed with the wind noise from the screen,I have since changed the screen to a 20" the standard is 16"but it hasnt made that much of a diference I have also bought & fitted a plate that fits under the fairing below the headlight to minimise the noise. However still getting hellish wind noise so looking for another higher screen ,But apart from that the bike has been spot on & there isnt much you cant get off ebay for them apart from a high screen. So if your looking for one of these & are under 6ft tall ... I am currently on my second Pan. It is without doubt the best bike I have ever owned. It does all I really want from a bike. It is fast (that is 'usably fast'), forgiving, and supremely reliable. Fuel consumption is OK and the handling is good. I also ride them in connection with my job (a white one - guess what I do) and all the people on my team rate them very highly. Several own their own. I Have several friends who are MAC instructors (another clue) who also own their own Pans. I'd never knock sports bikes, classics or trailies - but if you can only afford one bike you cannot do better than a Pan. It just will not let you down. If ... Read the complete review

The Pan was introduced to try and diminish BMW?s control over the big tourer market, and the spin -off police, paramedic and service patrol bikes. That demanded a large capacity, comfortable, reliable and good luggage hauling machine, with a shaft drive to do away with messy chains, and loads and loads of torque to do away with having to change gear. To add a little distinction to the bike, other than the usual square meters of bodywork, the engine was configured as an in line V4. My first impression of the bike was that it was big, heavy, very flexible, and yet surprisingly nimble. Stationary, and at very slow speeds, the height where the mass is carried is ... Since 1997 I have been responsible for puchasing and maintaining our fleet of six Paramedic Pan's. These bikes have proved to be ultra reliable and although they come with Honda's standard two year warranty and AA cover none of them have needed anything more than their routine servicing (excluding accident damage). Each bike covers about 25000 miles per year under extreme conditions so they have a very hard working life. Ours don't carry pillions but due to the medical kit they have to carry they are loaded up to the maximum weight allowed by the manufacturer and are ridden none stop for eight hours at a time. We also operate ... Read the complete review

Very good machine. Heavy at low speed but after things get rolling it handles great. Reliable and comfortable. Easy to maintain and durable. One of the few weak points is the exhaust which tends to rust hard in salty climats. Same thing for the rear arm. But when inspected regular and properly maintained not a real problem. Inspection and lubrication of the splines of the rear-end is required. And not that many dealers know how to do this properly. use a good moly-grease! (Honda 60%) Falling over can be expensive since Honda charges you big money for every tiny piece. The good thing is that the engine is protected for such accidents with a great pair of ...
