Advantages: great handling, pure power, sexy as hell
Disadvantages: makes your mates jelous!
I've always loved Honda bikes. They just seem to have a certain something about them that most other manufacturers miss. When I first passed my bike test I had a wee Suzuki 450. I kept it for a month and moved up to a Honda CBR750F retro. Lovely bike, but I wanted something with a bit more poke for the twisty roads here in Ireland. I bought a VFR 750. OH - MY - GOD!! This bike handles like a dream. Even with a passenger on the back. I'm a member of a club, and we all go out for a spin in the region of 100miles every Sunday morning. Amongst the bikes there, there are Blades, Ningas, Birds. Nearly every bike you could think of above a 600. I've ridden all of them, and I have to say, that none of them felt as good as the VFR. She seems to anticipate the corners for me, just falling over into them. I know I shouldn't be, but she's regularly up at 140 mph with plenty more in her. I'm getting around 120 miles to the tenner right now - so she's cheap to run. I'm planning on buying a new bike in the next month or twn, and although I'm tempted by the Fireblade, I've a sneeking suspicion that I'll be offering a good home to a VFR800i

- 06/09/01 What a dream! I've just got my first bike Honda CG125. Not much but I can't wait to upgrade when I pass my test and can afford it. |

- 12/06/01 I had a VFR750 FH which I also loved to bits. When the time came to change I was obviously drawn to the 800 too. Well, I had long test drive over half a day and all I can say is what a disappointment. My feelings after a trip that covered many types of road were that it was highly competent but nowhere near as involving as the 750. It just left me feeling nothing at the end of what should have been a great ride. As a consequence I bought a ZRX1100 instead. Now that is a different kettle of fish altogether! |
