Advantages: Race rep delight
Disadvantages: Not much good for any thing else
Well after an excellent weekend with a VFR800I the other week I can only say how dismayed I was with this week’s trial machine. Its hard to believe that the same manufacturer builds both bikes the finished quality of the SP1 is appalling cheap plastic poor paint finish and peeling decals make me wonder if this is the new quality? We can expect from a bike built in Italy. From a riders point of view the V twin engine is a joy to use with a throaty growl as you pull away and breath taking acceleration as you give her some serious throttle action. Yet as a practical road bike it is a poor purchase too thirsty for the daily commute, and really uncomfortable to ride in slow traffic after about 10 minutes you are ready to walk. But give her an open road or even better a race circuit and the bike is at home peeling through corners at much higher speeds than a four-cylinder machine. A definite track day tool with out a doubt loads of ground clearance mean you can get incredibly low before you start to grind away bits of the machine. Never been one for trying to get my knee down you cant but help to do this on the track with this little missile if you only do track days or the Sunday pose than this maybe the machine for you.
