Advantages: RELIABILITY, BUILD QUALITY, COMPLETE RIDING EXPERIENCE. Disadvantages: YOU WON'T TURN MANY HEADS!
Heavy and over engineered (=reliable and long lasting) this bike may be, but if you keep carbs in balance, keep an eye on the other items (suspension, brakes etc.) and CAN RIDE this bike, it is a match for any modern racer on the smaller roads. Power delivery and gearbox perfectly matched (you need to rev it!) and shaft drive is a dream once you get the hang of it. Low seat height suits a shorter rider. Bare bike benefits extensively from nose or handlebar fairing. I cannot understate this if you regularly ride above 65/70. I 'graduated' to the GT after riding bigger Jap and VW twins. In my experience, there is no greater riding joy to be found than in a good mid range Jap 4, and it does not have to be modern/racing designed/expensive (having said this, watch out for the old Suzuki GS's - the 4 cylinder unit is dead around 40 to 60,000 miles). Summary: CHEAP AND CHEERFUL FUN WHICH GOES ON AND ON...
