Advantages: Acceleration, Top Speed, Handling, , Comfort and styling, Price
Disadvantages: No fuel gauge
Well, this is my second Ninja ( The first was a 98 model) I've had my Y2K ZX6-R just over 13 months now, done 5500 miles on it( 3000 of them across Spain twice! and back through France after going to the Spanish Grand Prix at Jerez!!) Not one ounce of trouble from it the whole way.. now thats reliability! I had a Micron race can put on then had her re-jetted and stage 1 race tuned to smooth out the mid-range ( It's top speed increased also.. considerably I might add!!) I adjusted the suspension set up a little to the specs in Performance Bikes magazines recommendation ( It was a little on the soft side for a lardy arse like me!) and now it go's round corners like it's on rails!! (As if it didn't before- just quicker!! HA!) This is a machine that will not only keep up with, but pass the big boyz on the track and will also get you across Continents with comfort.. I know.. I've done it & It won't let you down. You can load it up with luggage, it'll pull like an ox.. then drop it all off to become a ground level jet fighter! The 6 pot anchors will stop you on a penny everytime with lots of feel on the road and the gears are the smoothest I've experienced compared to other 600's I've tried. You also get a tool kit under the seat that is actually USEFUL, there isn't anything on the bike that cant be taken apart with the kit provided!! The only criticisms I have (believe it or not) is that when revved hard, up or down the box.. and I mean.. racing hard.. then the box will sometimes give a false neutral, which can be a bit annoying on the track, but I've been told it's just me not selecting correctly..?? The paint finish on the wheels is a bit thin and there are no bungee hooks on the back. Apart from that it's a top class machine... AND you can get a brand new one for around 5K sometimes cheaper if you look around.. now thats a bargain!! I've yet to try
out Suzukis new GSXR-600/750, but somehow I don't think I'd be able to cross Continents in the same way without the aid of some ointment from my Doctor afterwards for an aching posterior! If you want to see my bike, sign into http://groups.yahoo.com/group/zx-6r and go to the files link to see some photographs. AND.. YES..The green ones ARE MUCH FASTER!!
