Advantages: Good Brakes, Sound, Speed, Acceleration, Reliability. Cheap Insurance.

Disadvantages: Suspension can go soggy, Gear change can become rough.

I've had a Kawasaki ZX6-R F1, F3, and now a G1. From the very first time I jumped on the old F1 five years ago I've felt the buzz of the engine, the roar of the intake, and the gut wrenching acceleration is second to none for value.

Yes, there are faster bikes, and yes, there are more comfortable bikes, but not at this price, and not at this level of insurance.

All my ZX6's have been totally reliable regardless of how infrequently they have been used, I have never used the breakdown services and have never over cooked the bike and found it leaving me in the gravel, despite the occasional scare that I might not make it round the corner.

My only criticism of long service is perhaps a harshness of the gearchange as they get older but it's not serious and you can live happily with this. The rear suspension has a tendency to go soggy after a year or two also but a rebuild or change soon sorts this.

The bodywork holds up well if kept clear of salt and although the downpipes always look knackered after 3 months but they go on for ages after this, it's a cosmetic thing really.

All things considered, I would recommend anyone to buy a ZX6 if they're on a budget. Have fun? I guarantee you will.
