The Laverda 750s Formula is the most increadible bike you will ever ride, as beautiful standing still as it is on the move. It can competently cope with almost anything you ask of it, the handling is fantastic and the engine despite it's ageing origins is still plenty powerful enough for most people. It boasts an impressive list of parts from major manufacturers such as Marchesini, Termignomi, Brembo and Paioli that would normally cost a small fortune to add to your bike after the initial cost. Reliability is not the issue that some would have you believe, there are a few well known, but relatively minor issues that are easily cured with the help and parts available from the people who know these bikes well. Don't rely on main dealers or official importers, take the time to find the experts before problems arise and they'll help you prevent them from happening at all. The two most important things to do are the replacement of the oil filter with a blanking plate to increase oil flow,(will then require more frequent changes though), and the bypassing of the safety cutout circuit due to the unreliable relay, (will prevent you from being stranded if it packs up while you are out on it). Once these 2 mods are done you will enjoy many hours on a wonderful machine that draws attention like nothing I have ever known. I have owned mine from new and there is nothing on the market that I would swap it for, Ducati 916 through to 999 included!
Before parting with your hard-earned pennies think long and hard about buying this machine. Poor build quality and terrible cosmetic finish are the tip of the iceberg, when it comes to reviewing this most disappointing product from our Italian friends. With one of the poorest support programmes in the industry rivalled only by Cagiva for shoddy responses to help with minor and major faults, Laverda are without doubt one of the worst suppliers I have had the misfortune to buy from. This machine has suffered constant problems with the gearbox and the engine has had numerous rebuilds to attempt to correct bad manufacturing faults. And it only managed 1800 miles in 12 months before I had decided that I preferred the loan bike which had been my constant companion for 11 months give or take a few days when my Laverda was not back in the workshop. Unless you have a sadistic desire and unlimited amount of patience and money avoid this product like the plague.
