I've had one of these for over a year and covered around 7000 miles. It fills the gap between the pedal cycle and the car - much more fun than the car, faster & less effort than the bicycle!! The Typhoon is a useful alternative to the Zip, having more legroom (more than adequate for this 6' 1" rider) and plenty of space for a pillion who can be carried provided you do not have L-plates. The seat is large & reasonably comfortable though the foam tends to compress and goes a bit hard after a long journey. The vibration levels are very low, both in the floor and the handlebars, and are not significant. The engine, which has 50 years of ... Read the complete review

I bought a Piaggio Zip 50 for my girlfriend a few months ago, And I really wish I'd bought it for myself! The Piaggio Zip 50 is the best selling 50cc scooter in the world, This is down to its good quality componants, Reliability and fantastic price! With all scooters, Cheep insurance, 70+MPG and being able to beat the traffic are all extra reasons to go out and buy one! The Zip itself is a very small framed machine, Being very light aswell Its ideal for petite people as lifting the bike onto the stands can sometimes be a bit of a sruggle, But being light and small can be a major dissadvantage as it just makes your lovely little scoot just a ... I bought my 1st ZIP 50 back in August last year. If you want a great beginner's scooter, there is no better place to start. Stylish, nippy, especially when you derestrict them (45mph is easily hit), cheap and fun, I thought there could be no better way to beat the commuting blues in London. They retail for only £1,200 new, discounts are easy, and you usually get helemt, gloves and a lock thrown in for nothing. Ride them on your car licence, derestrict for an extra £50 if you want (warning, insurance companies must be informed, :-)), twist, and go. Traffic, trains, tube, buses - they all melt away as I beat the rush, and arrived at work in half the time I used to. ... Read the complete review

Our Piaggion Typhoon 50 is just the business. You can go a top speed of about 44 mph downhill, it's got the amazing prophetic words 'Tech for Fun' emblazoned in a dazzling yellow all along the side and we can even fit 2 people on it and get up the hill to the pub and then just kind of roll back. Only prob is it keeps getting knocked over when it's parked on the street. Not sure if they're still on the market but they're great ... Read the complete review

I have owned a Zip for 18 months now, and i am glad of the investment. Thew extra few cc`s make such a difference to the engine, and the initial throttle response is very good. The model I bought had 8000K on the clock, so performance was not as good as it could have been, but as I understand newer models have no such problem. Obviously after a time the bike needed a service, and at £65 including VAT I cannot complain at the price. But what astounded me was the difference a new spark plug and new oil can really make. In this respect, the Zip is a remarkabe machine - with the bare minnimum of expense, it remains a reliable, safe and quick mode of ... Read the complete review
