Advantages: Good powerful engine (for a 50!), Looks smart!, Beat the traffic!
Disadvantages: Bit small/light, easy to steal
I bought a Piaggio Zip 50 for my girlfriend a few months ago, And I really wish I'd bought it for myself! The Piaggio Zip 50 is the best selling 50cc scooter in the world, This is down to its good quality componants, Reliability and fantastic price! With all scooters, Cheep insurance, 70+MPG and being able to beat the traffic are all extra reasons to go out and buy one! The Zip itself is a very small framed machine, Being very light aswell Its ideal for petite people as lifting the bike onto the stands can sometimes be a bit of a sruggle, But being light and small can be a major dissadvantage as it just makes your lovely little scoot just a bit easier to knick, And the flimsy steering lock on the Piaggio just isnt gonna stop two people picking it up and putting it in the back of there van! The best Way to prevent this is to chain it to a post.... A tall post! The piaggio engine is restricted to 30mph, But it has plenty of power for most applications, Gets up hills fine and keeps up with the traffic! But on the open road... Just be prepared to let the traffic by once in a while! This is a well renowned engine which is reliable and quiet and will last a long time. De-restricted the bike by removing the washer from the variator and cutting of the resanater pipe on the exhaust Then weld and paint the hole. This should push your bike to 50mph, I must just add that you should get your bike De-restricted by a profesional and it is acctually illegal to modify a moped in any way without informing the DVLA, Insurance company ETC. The zip is also a very comfortable machine, Big cumfy sofa-like seat! And really soft bouncy suspension! This can be a problem at times as the bike seems to wanna bounce around bumpy corners, So watch out! All in all this is a wonderfull scooter! Ideal for starters and modifiers alike! Just be aware the bike is small and light so if your ove 11 stones say, perhaps you should
look at somthing a little bigger, (perhaps a Yamaha Aerox? See my other opinions.)
