Advantages: Very easy to ride, Loads of storage space , Fuel economic
Disadvantages: Slow, Not as much cred
The Suzuki Katana was my first bike (which I still have but i've got a Cagiva Mito now). It was nearing the end of my GCSE exams and wanted to be able to ride into school on a scooter. I saw the bike in a local bike shop second hand for £800, which is fairly reasonable. I put down a £100 deposit and the next week they delivered it to my house. I got in some practice up and down my driveway before my CBT, and they came around again a couple of weeks later to take it to the test center for me, which they did free of charge. I was nervouse about the training but it went OK and I rode home on my own. The top speed is around 35mph, which is very slow and painstaking! I had owned my scooter for about 8 months and decided I wanted o de-restrict it. So I got a Tecnigas exhaust for £70 and put it on myself. I was very pleased with the results. I could now go about 45mph, which if you think about it, is only a gain about 10mph, but it makes a huge difference and it shaves off minutes from the time it takes to get to college! You can also overtake other scooters easily! It is a very practical scooter. Loads of storage under the seat, enough for you to put stuff in your helmet and then put the helmet in the seat. If you dont care about getting pulled over, you can put things between your legs. You can also just about hoist wheelies. But you should be very careful because one day, my scooter flipped over and I nearly dropped it! Not reccomended at all. Always be ready to put on the back brake! A very stylish and fast (de-restricted) scooter. For people who want a practical bike around town.
