The Beautiful SUZUKI is doing it's best to break Harley Davidson stranglehold on one of Americans most wonderful unrefined bike sport, dirt track racing
For those of you not familiar with the sport, it's a bit like speedway, but held on miles after miles ovals and contested in the premier class 750 and 1000cc V twins. There have been brief but vicious assaults by triumph, BSA, Yamaha and Honda but the Harley keeps on coming back and supporting the only bike they're good at.
This bike, the horniest two-wheeler ever, was built by Suzuki to trumpet success in the Seattle mile race where a man called Joe Kopp won on an identical TL engineer racer.
The bike shares a TL1000 motor, converted from a fuel injection to run 45mm Mikundi carps and dustbin came out of a wrecker. His team love the fact the TL's lump is cheap, reliable and more powerful out of the crate than a tuned Harley XR750. In fact, they have to restrict the Suzuki because of its extra 250cc
The motor is held in a chrome moly frame made by specialist CandJ Frames of California. The frame has an LC style direct acting monoshock rear end. Very few dirt track bikes use usd firks and the Suzuki uses ancient GSX R1100 item. This bike has 19in wheels, with a dry weight of 155kg. The Suzuki can kick out 105bhp, the Suzuki is in its infancy.
