Advantages: Reliable, well constructed, reputable manufacturer
Disadvantages: none noted
I have recently purcheased a Yamaha aerox 50 for my daughter for commuting to work/college. That was as far as my involvement goes, just paying for it. It was her choice, I think primarily on the looks of the machine. But now she has had it some time and got some use, it seems like she made a good choice. In my opinion, the scooter is well constructed mechanically. Runs extremely well, and has proven a good investment. It was purchased from a local Yamaha dealer on an "all in" package i.e. free insurance, helmet, C.B.T. RAC cover for 1 year etc. for £2000. The abilty to withstand wet weather is a must where we live and it has not hampered the scooters perfomance in any way. It was a 1st time ride for my daughter and the ease of which she found in getting the feel of it and ride was excellent. The support from Yamaha and the dealer network is good and helpful. The derestriction when applied gives the engine quite a bit more poke than you would expect, so caution is advised to any persons about to undergo this. She managed to scratch a side panel parking it against a post, but it was easy and inexpensive to replace the panel.
