Advantages: Looks great!, Quality components, 80 MPG!!!

Disadvantages: Slow restricted, Heavy

Ive recently purchaced a Yamaha Aerox YQ50. and i have to say it is a fantastic moped! It cost me £1800 pounds, Some places its more some places its less so shop around.

When i took it out of the show room I was gleaming with joy sitting on my racy looking new bike, Its styling is like no other moped ive seen, It has so much muscle and aggression, But dont be fooled by this dressed up hair dryer! By law these machines must be restrected to 30mph in this country, (which i think is very dangerous) And this bike comes of the shop floor Really really over restricted! It will do 30 but it takes sooo long to get there, Its an embarrasment! And pretty dangerous in town too.

After I done 600 miles to run the engine in I had it de-restricted and now gawd dam its its the fastest 50cc ive ever seen and the handling is that of a super bike, Due to its massive low-profile tyres and High quality Polini suspension.

This scooter is De-restricted in many places, To derestrict remove the cone from the cylinder side of exhaust and then cut of the resonator pipe and weld and re-paint the hole, Alternitivly crimp the resonator pipe in a vice as close to the exhaust as posible this will do the trick but it is not recomended as the metal may fatigue and the exhaust may crack. This alone will significantly boos you acceleration and power but you will be limited to about 45mph, To change this remove the washer from the variator, This is a tricky job so best get a profesional to do it! When completed you bike should do 50-55mph.

Of course there are limitless upgrades you could do to the engine, I have heard of a race tuned Aerox that will touch 80mph!?

It also has 190mm Brembo disks front and rear help stop this hefty monster.

All in all, I highly recomend this bike to beginners and modifiers alike!

(I must just add, It is acctually illegal to modify of tune a moped without informing DVLA, Insurance company, ETC)
