      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      6/10

replaced the engine the other week for a customer. he said it was maxxing out at ten. upon examination of the old engine, he had over filled the oil, and it had leaked into the transmission case and onto the belt... what have we learnt? not to over fill skippers >.< it is a typical cheap scooter, built for the soul purpose of getting from A to B. the plastics are cheap and all held together by eachother, which makes it a pain to remove.

despite those problems it is actually a good 4 stroke moped. brilliant pickup, once the carb is sorted, and good top speed. the only thing i dont like is that it has the tiniest air box in the world, with a huge intake into the box, which can get stuff caught in it and cause it to run rich. very economical for a 4 stroke though.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      reliability, wear, storage.

I absolutely love my Skipper when it is going, i find it easy to ride, i think it looks nice and even had a thumbs up by a kid that saw me on it he said "nice bike". it has loads of storage which is a big plus for me,although the underseat is not quite big enough for my helmet, it will fit in the backbox and the backbox comes as standard.

But beware it is cheaply made to the extreme, i bought the warranty (thank goodness) and it has probably been in the garage about 6 times in the 18 months that i have had it.
The clock on it is as useful as a chocolate teapot, i have had it replaced about 3 times and now it has gone wrong again i wont bother getting them to do it again, i wonder why they bother really as i can get by without it even though its nice to have! my husband put a waterproof watch on it that he got from the pound shop and that works very well. The exhaust is also very rusty, and became so almost immediately. At the time of writing this it is again in the garage, i went on a little biker hol and rode it around the Isle of Wight for a week, since i have been back the battery keeps discharging itself, which is very annoying, as i bought a new battery thinking that was the problem, but it is still happening, and so it looks like its something else going wrong.
Despite all this i really love this bike and i am not put off Piaggios, i just wish that they had made it more hardwearing.

Buy the extended warrantry, but may not be any good for reliability

Smart looking bike Cheap 4 stroke Does 60 mph Nice ride Plastic body is held to together with fixings that are rubbish The exhaust get rustier than the titanic and fast, then costs £140 Good for commuting as it goes well and has good protection Something was never quite right with the engine, difficult to put finger on. After three years (end of warranty) the reliability got so bad I had to change it. Owned for 3 and a half years approx 17000 miles. If you're buying one make sure you take out the 3 year warranty, otherwise you're sunk.
