Advantages: shopping hook
Disadvantages: mainly engine & brakes.
CRAP! If you want to be left at the lights by everything on the road, including monkey bikes and those rubbish SMART cars, then buy this scooter! The 124cc engine on this is absolutely pathetic, I always have to give it several helping shoves off the ground with my foot before the 'power' kicks in. Meanwhile, some guy on his mountain bike out-accelerates me and the driver behind is about to run me over! Pillion riding - forget it - there have been days when the thing actually doesn't move at all with full throttle on! Advice - Get a bike licence and buy a 180/200 Gilera Runner..or buy a motorbike! I'll give it one star for the hook to hang your shopping on.

- 15/03/08 It really does sound this is reviewing a 50cc ET4/ET2. If you do in fact have an ET4 125cc then you need to get your scooter serviced as there is clearly something wrong. I have owned several Vespa ET4 125 scooters and have also tested some of my friends ET 4 scoots and they have all been fine, top speed around 60-65mph. Okay, they are not the fastest scooters on the road, but they are not as bas as you described. I used to own a Gilera Runner 125 SP and that was much faster but everybody wanted to steal it all the time so in the end I went for a Vespa ET4 and have never regretted it. I changed the exhaust/silencer on mine to a Sito Plus (looks like the original) and it has really improved acceleration, but even with the standard exhaust it was fine.
I would recommend the Piaggio Vespa ET4 125cc scooter, but you must maintain it, which I beleive 'Jules H' did not. |

- 30/12/04 Hey Jules get real, or are you just winding everyone up? Maybe you didn't realize that the righthand grip can twist round, ohmygosh, which in then makes that whirry sounding thing under the furniture part go faster, which makes the whole scooter thingy faster too? Did you have the motor running, even?
I've ridden a couple of these things now, there's nothing wrong with their performance round the suburbs, away from lights, or anywhere throughout a hilly city. For any doubters, try before you buy. But test the Vespa last, it will save you making 2 trips to the Vespa dealer. If you want the best scooter, this is it. Period.

- 05/11/04 I agree with MarkyT that it sounds to me like you're reviewing the ET4 50cc, not the ET4 125cc. The 50cc IS a slug, I know. The 125cc is a different machine entirely.
