Advantages: biggest road legal Learner bike in UK

Disadvantages: many niggles but easily fixed

I am another lady rider, I upgraded from a 50cc after a year of riding to the the X9. I've owned two - one from new and the other second hand.

They have a lovely character to them and make you feel big and road worthy but they do have a few niggles. I put the niggles down to the bikes being made in Italy for italian weather and being ridden and kept in the UK in UK weather. They included in my own experience...

The throttle sticking so you could excellerate without holding on - recified by using a washer under the grip

Cold start issues where the bike (electric start with no kick) will not go - fixed by putting the x9 500cc battery in the bike instead as it has more oomph.

Exhaust going rusty very quickly - needing regular coatings with bbq paint.

The little rubber bit on the stand can make a hole in the underside of the chassis - you need to keep wd40ing this to ensure the rubber rolls freely.

The other disadvantage is the weight. Both times I've dropped this I've had to wait for a strong man to come and help me :) And being short the weight doesn't help if you're trying to perform the Uturn on a bike test as pushing it arround is not easy.

Saying all of the above - I loved mine :) I joined the x9 owners club and went on ride outs with them on my x9. Then I got hit from behind...boy was i glad that the spacious pillion seat was between me & the car that hit me. The plastic fairing of which there was so much crumpled and the bike was written off, so I got another one the same but in a different colour...

Summary: I miss this now I have a car
