British bike for British roads (Triumph Daytona 955i)
Member Name: featus
Advantages: Over engineered, strong brakes, grunty engine, sound, sturdy handling Disadvantages: Heavy at slow speeds, electrical gremlins, front brake can catch air in banjo I was not in the market for a new bike when I first came across the Triumph Daytona 955i. It took me good day to head back to the bike shop and go for a test ride. Sold. It was a mint 02 plate with 4000 miles on the clock. I was not out long for the test, but the quality of the ride was great. I wanted a bike that would be more comfortable than my GSXR 600 SRAD and have more mid range. The engine is a peach, oodles of torque from the off. The revs build quickly with a broad range of power. It is a three cylinder, gives you the tyre shredding torque similar to a v-twin, while being able to rev and deliver horsepower like a four cylinder. The sound is awseome, fit the factory carbon exhaust and it blows you away ( I have spent many trips just slowing down in a high gear just to speed up and hear the engine!. Road riding is brilliant on this bike, I have covered another 14k miles since buying the bike, riding everyday all year. The finish is superb, stainless steel everywhere (makes it heavy but breat for Britain). I like to through my bikes around when riding and it copes very well, good positive handling. Unfortunately it can be let down by electrical gremlins, Triumph have always been quick to sort it out. Summary: Great blend of engine, handling, comfort
