mortarake Triumph Trophy 1200: ... I ve had three of these big bikes. Two I still have. Plus I had a 900 before any of the 1200 s. I have a blue 2002 model I bought from new which now has 80k on the clock. I also bought a grey 2003 model with 9k on the clock as I knew Triumph had discontinued the model and I wanted to ensure that the bikes outlasted me. That one is in storage and used for the annual holiday only. The bike is tall so you really ne...

phavas Triumph Trophy 1200
... bike, silent, fast. Lousy brakes (wear out quickly) fork dive, rear end hops when pressed. Triumph really messed up with the seating position. Noone seems to want to say the bike is so uncomfortable that you don t WANT to ride it more than a couple of minutes, Anyone who says it fits them is an anatomical anomaly or a liar: The bars are too far forward, your ass is shoved to the back of the seat. Too much weight is put on the hands and you get nerve pinches in your upper back. Triumph engineered the half bars to fit under the faring and forgot how people are made. Several companies offer "remedies": Genmar offer horrible little aluminum inserts that raise th...

Jonny_L Triumph Speed Triple
... trip meters, temp gauges, a digital speedo and analogue tacho, though you have to take your hand off the bar to switch between some of them, and I d jack it all in for a decent fuel gauge and a gear indicator, something I was suprised not to see. All this aside though, you ll forget about it s niggles in no time. There s something very pure about the Speed Triple, something that exists in all Triumphs actually. The marketing men will no doubt call it "soul" or "passion", but I d just call it british engineering at it s finest. These bikes are designed by brits, for british roads, and my god does that show. The suspension may not be the best, but...

richard+kemp Triumph Thunderbird
... saw a Thunderbird about 4 years ago and the memory stayed with me. After looking for some considerable time, I eventually found the one I was looking for in June 2008. I bought a 2003 model in red and silver, with just 3600 miles on the clock. Since then I ve fitted a King and Queen seat (plus a sissy bar for the wife) and it s improved the comfort no end. I made up some extended bolts for the seat which I can easily access with a T-bar Allen key, making removal and fitting of the seat a doddle! I tried a set of "off road" silencers from Sprint Manufacturing but found the exhaust note very harsh and I didn t like the pops and bangs on over-run, so I m back...
