Advantages: Effiecient communter.
Disadvantages: Cornering unstable.
I have a M reg Xj600S, since April 2000 after selling a GS500E. My personal observations are:- Great for regular communiting and touring. I've been to S. Ireland as well as other great rides and the bike was excellent. Even in appalling weather, the bike never let me down. Compared to the GS500E, it doesn't corner as well, I feel more insecure lending with the divvy and it feels as if the front wheel is really light and is going to slip from underneath me. I don't know whether this is because one of the fork seals has gone. It looks great with the twin exhaust, but, now I need a replacement I find it hard to find one at a reasonable cost. I may end up buying a 4-2-1 rather than the 4-2-2. I don't know how this will effect it's performance. I get about 180miles to a tank of petrol, which was about £10 last time I used it. Overall, a great communter, most parts are easy to find and excellent also for touring.

rikjwells - 10/06/02 I have read your rating of the Divvy 600 - I had a Diversion 600 for some 18,000 miles+ and am intreagued by some of your comments. I was particularly surprised by your lack of confidence in cornering - I had a ball, once I got the confidence with the tyres fitted!
I think the original set were Dunlop, which were okay to "learn" on, but a bit slippery. I got some Avons after that, which were a lot better, but not very good in the wet, from what I can recall. I easily regularly got the pegs down on both sides with no loss of confidence (they don't dig in).
The real rebirth happened just a few hundred miles before I sold the bike to a friend to get a ThunderAce, when I put Bridgestone BT35s on. It was amazing - I rode around the outside of a GSXR750 around a roundabout onthe second or third day out with them - I would heartily recommend Bridgestones if you have the opportunity. This happened on a trip with friends from London to Cadwell Park in Lincolnshire - something like a 350 mile round trip! My backside was sore after all that *and* the dozen or so laps during the "race" school, but that's pretty much the only time I've suffered, even on some other long-ish trips. I do remember having a whale of a time on the roads coming home - I surprised a few people, I can tell you! Someone on a GPZ500 was finding it difficult to keep up, so we had to dampen our enthusiasm!
The exhausts are a weak point regarding corrosion, but, thankfully, in the 18-odd months I had the bike, I didn't suffer from the problem. I did have to replace the footpeg rubbers, though!
Anyway - I hope this may be of interest to you ... by all means get in touch. I hope you continue to enjoy your Divvy!
