10 things I LOVE about you (10 Things I Hate About You (DVD))
Member Name: fairyjasmine
Advantages: it's easy to watch, Kat is ace Disadvantages: it's pretty predictable, the cast isn't well known
As someone who isn't usually a fan of so-called chick flicks I saw this with some trepidation but actually enjoyed it far beyond what I had expected. It's a tale of two sisters: Kat and Bianca. Bianca is pretty, popular and the boys want to date her. The trouble is her overbearing father refuses to let her until her stroppy smarter older sister does. It appears that'll be never until Patrick is bribed to do just that deed. And of course they fall in love, go paintballing and go to the ball. After the inevitable ending -Kat finds out he was only dating her for a bribe but Patrick manages to win her back. Of course. Like anything else was going to happen. Meanwhile Bianca, faced with the choice of the popular but sleazy or nice but nerdy boys, makes the sensible choice of the latter. Why?! But somehow I found myself not caring about them. I love Heath Ledger, who plays Patrick for no reason less shallow than that he's easy on the eye. It was Julia Stile's character that intrigued me most, she was feisty, sassy and smart, characteristics not well respected in many schools either side of the pond. OK. So it’s fairly cheesy throughout but if you fancy a slightly different kind of romantic film this might just satisfy your urge. Summary: |
