10 Things I Hate About You is the brilliant teen comedy from director Gil Junger. Gil Junger has directed a couple of feature films (Black Knight, If Only) but ultimately she is more well known for her work on television shows. She has been involved in numerous television shows including the likes of 8 Simple Rules, Kyle XY, Hope & Faith & Ellen. She is also directing the spin off of the 2008 film Get Smart starring Steve Carrel & Anne Hathaway.

10 Things I Hate About You was released 31st March 1999, it has a 12 rating & runs for 97 minutes. It had a budget of $16 million & grossed an estimated $53,478,166 at the box office. The film was nominated for five Teen Choice awards including Film Breakout Performance (Julia Stiles) & Sexiest Love Scene (Heath Ledger & Julia Stiles).

This film stars Julia Stiles (Kat)
Heath Ledger (Patrick)
Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Cameron)
Larissa Oleynek (Bianca)
Gabrielle Union (Chastity)

Julia Stiles plays Kat Stratford. Julia Stiles is a young actress who was once tipped to be the next Meryl Streep. She's starred in many successful films such as Save The Last Dance, The Devils Own & The Bourne Trilogy. Her upcoming film is titled Gospel Hill in which she plays the part of Rosie.

Heath Ledger, for those of you who have been living under a rock for the past year is the Australian actor who tragically died last year at the age of 28 as a result of an accidental overdose. Heath Ledger was a brilliant actor who starred in such films as Brokeback Mountain, Monsters Ball & who could forget his role as the joker in the 2008 film Batman: The Dark Knight.

10 Things I Hate About You is a teen comedy based around the lives of Kat, a rebellious tomboy & her sister Bianca who's the popular girl at school & also daddies favourite. Bianca really wants to date but her fathers very strict & says that neither girls are allowed to date. Bianca begs her Dad which is when he comes up with a new rule: Bianca can date when her older sister Kat dates. The only thing is, Kat has no interest in dating, or in boys in general. Bianca however is determined to date though so she thinks up a plan.

This is where Cameron comes in, he's besotted with Bianca & would do anything to date her. Bianca informs Cameron of her father's rule & Cameron tells her that he'll sort it. He has to convince someone to date Kat which in turn will enable him to date her sister Bianca. The downside of the plan... every boy in school is petrified of Kat & her sharp tongue.

Eventually Cameron manages to find someone who's perfect for the job, Patrick. Patrick's a misfit who like Kat has everyone in fear of him. He was absent from school for a while & rumours have circulated that he was in prison. Patrick agrees, for a fee & he manages to persaude Kat to go out with him.

He begins to fall for Kat & she feels the same however she isn't aware that he's just dating her for money & when she finds out it isn't pretty!

This is definitely one of my favourite teen films. It's got a brilliant storyline, it sounds quite complicated but it really isn't. The acting is brilliant, it's got some really funny moments & characters. This is one of those films that you can watch over & over again & not get bored of, it's a classic! I'd recommend this to any fan of teen comedies or any fan of Heath Ledger as this is one of his earlier films but still just as good as all his others.

This film doesn't have any special features which is a bit disappointing but the quality of the film more than makes up for it & for the price you can't really complain!

10 Things I Hate About You is available from play.com for £2.99 which is such a bargain for a brilliant film. This is probably even cheaper than renting it so I'd highly recommend you buy it.

The soundtrack is also available from play.com for £9.05. At this price it would probably be a good idea to download it from iTunes or download the songs separately. There's no really well known names on there either which you'd expect with a teen comedy to have artists that everybody knows.

Summary: Well worth a watch.

I used to have this soundtrack and think it's great actually. I have heard of most of the tracks and artists but I appreciate that most youngsters won't have. Another great review x

I love this film...and I'm way past my teens! I still laugh at it no matter how many times I see it.
