When fashion designer Anita meets the bumbling but likeable Computer game designer Roger, they are brought together in love for their two Dalmations, Perdita and Pongo. Ninety-nine Dalmation puppies later and life could not be better. Unfortunately, Anita's boss Cruella De Vil has her eyes set on the young pups to satisfy her love for fur and the long Dalmation coat she has always dreamed of. When the pups are kidnapped it is up to Pongo and Perdita to rescue them. I really wanted to hate 101 Dalmations. I have a childlike love for the 1961 animated version and had thought this would be a blasphemous remake of a much loved classic from my childhood. ... Read the complete review

This is one of a series of cartoons by Disney in the 50's and 60's based on children's stories and it's never been one of my favourites. In fact, I actually find myself for a lot of the time siding with Cruella de Vil rather than those cutesy pie disgustingly spotty dogs. You're supposed to hate Cruella or fear her - I don't know which, but either way they're hopelessly wide of the mark. Kids will probably still like this sort of thing - wait a minute I might be wrong there - following the likes of Toy Story and Small Soldiers this looks hopelessly dated now and I'm not sure any of our little darlings would give it house ... After recently seeing this film on TV I thought I may as well right an opinion about it for you fellow dooyoo’ers! Aren’t I kind and considerate?! 101 Dalmatians is the animated version of the popular children’s book. I never actually read the book and so to be honest I didn’t really know what the story line was. Of course I knew the film would be about loads of cute puppies and a cruel woman by the name of Cruella DeVil but that was about as far as my knowledge went! So, just in case there are others of you out there that don’t actually know the story line I thought I’d let you all know. ... Read the complete review

I loved the animated film of 101 Dalmatians, so I wasn't quite sure if the 'real life' version would be a huge disappointment or a wonderful movie. Thankfully, it was the latter and I am now looking forward to the sequel. The basic plot is that Roger (Jeff Daniels) and Anita (Joely Richardson)live with their two Dalmatians, Pongo and Perdita. They have fifteen puppies, which Anita's boss, the evil Cruella De Vil, takes an interest in, as she scretly plans to bring Dalmatian fur coats into fashion ! Cruella hires Horace and Jasper to steal the puppies, who are taken to Manor De Vil. Pongo barks out an SOS to the dogs of the city, until ... Read the complete review
