suzanneb84 The Golden Compass (DVD)
... was more than a little unsure about this film due to the fact it looked rubbish in the trailers and had Nicole Kidman in it, who I am not a fan of as she normally comes hand in hand with cheesey films!! But, my opinion has slightly improved since watching it. The story: In an alternate world people have souls, except that these take the form of a talking animal who travel with the person. these can change from birds to snakes to cats etc and settle down when the child is older. Some children are stolen for experiments and a child saves the day with the help of people she has met along the way. The golden compass tells the truth of a situation, the child has it and ever...

charby Lolita [1962] (DVD)
... ve tried very hard not to include spoilers in my review, but if you feel that I m giving too much away, please let me know and I shall edit my review accordingly. ... people are forced to endure Shalespeare when they study English Literature and one of the texts I had to study ws Romeo and Juliet and to be honest I quite enjoyed it, probably the most famous tragic love story and while there is humour in the first half of the play mostly due to Mercutio and the Nurse, his sad demise putting an end to the puns and a first taste of the death and doom to come. This film adaption starring Leonardo Di Caprio and Claire Danes star in the lead roles in this two hour version and it is an excellent film. The script has been updated to remove some of the harder to understand prose and to make it more relevant to a modern audience thus the ...
