Simply Fun! (17 Again (DVD))

I am not ashamed to admit I love Zac Efron so I do tend to watch his films and one I really fancied was 17 again. Plus it has the delectable Matthew Perry in it too. Me and my sister watched it and we loved it so we think everybody should love a bit of the Efron. Here is why.

17 again is about a guy called Mike who is having trouble with the wife and kids and longs for his glory days when he was 17, at school and very very popular and dating the prettiest girl in school. One night all of it gets too much for him and he wakes up the next day being 17 again. Now armed with his friend Ned who is a flamboyant guy if I ever did see one, he tries to go back to school and just generally be 17 again.

Yes it is a story that we have seen before several times and the formula to be honest is the same. As you will expect the story follows its path as you would expect and the characters develop as you would expect and everything ends as you would expect. Even though this is the most formulaic movie ever, it is still so enjoyable and it is because the formula works and it is fun. The story is really good fun and because there are some good actors here, it is just great.

The film is set in a very nice area of America and because Ned is extremely rich there is a nice house in this movie. There are not many effects which is fine but because the characters develop so much and they are funny, you really can get into this movie and it will hook you in straight away and keep you watching and laughing throughout.

The characters are great and extremely funny to watch. Mike is probably the weakest but when he is the young Mike, Zac Efron really gets into his role and makes you laugh. Matthew Perry unfortunately does not have much play time in the movie but he is good in the bits he does. Tyler Steelman who plays Ned though is fantastic as the geeky mate and he is the one to watch here as you are guaranteed fun every time he comes onto the screen.

The film goes on for an hour and 40 minutes which goes by very quickly indeed and there are no special features on my DVD which is a shame really as I can imagine some outtakes would be really good.

In conclusion I think this film is one of the most predictable out there but because it is a favourite formula it works really well as always. I think you are guaranteed to have fun with this film and you cant take it seriously at all. Fun acting and story and to me you have a successful film that I will watch again.
