Advantages: Plenty of action, comedy and refreshingly different characters.

Disadvantages: Not enough publicity at time of release.

Is this film better than "Pulp Fiction"? Maybe not. But "2 Days In The Valley" is certainly along the same tracks with better elements of comedy. The characters are all a little more eccentric and well-rounded than those of the famous Tarantino movies.

Not well publicised at the time of release, I only watched this film on rental from the video store on request from male friends' adoration of actress (and principle character), Charlize Theron. I was pleasantly suprised at the quality and entertainment value of this film. It could be one to own on video, as it is good.

Whislt it isn't the same as "Pulp Fiction", the similar theme of organised crime and the criminal underworld is prevalent to the storyline. Teri Hatcher makes a notorious appearance in this film, showing us that she is a better actress than "The New Adventures of Superman" showed us previously. She holds her part convincingly well.

The movie follows a short, but significant period in the lives of a handful of odd characters. They're all a bit shifty, and you don't know quite what to make of them as the events take place. After a couple of murders and involuntary, co-incidental involvement with each others lives, the story line twists around in a kind of "whodunnit" way. Obviously I cannot go into detail here, as it would spoil the film for those who have not as yet seen it. The storyline is so cleverly interlinked and winding that it is difficult to describe the jist of it alone in any way at all.

The main original concept of this film is that the audience does not know who to side with. You don't immediately, or for any period of time realise who the good or bad guys are. It is refreshingly misleading, and you end up being suprised as you didn't think "that" would happen next. Only snippets of information about individual characters are given at a time, leading you to assume o
ne thing and then not suspect the following events.

It is not about serious and particularly dangerous criminals, but rather small-time crooks who have got in deeper than they expected. This makes viewing a little more light-hearted and comical. No character is as seriously weird as they appear in other films of the same type. It's a good film that should have been more celebrated than it was, and I'm sure anyone who watches this one will be suprised at the originality of the script, actors and comical genious of this amusingly different masterpiece.
