As soon as I saw the adverts for the film 21 I knew I had to see it. This is exactly my sort of film, where a gang of people get together to use their brains to put a scam into action, and the best part is there was none, or very little violence. Whereas stories with this plot line normally revolve around violence.

The film starts with a geeky boy Ben and his best friend, also a fellow geek, but not quite so intellegent. Ben wants to go to uni to study law, and although he is extremly intellegent, there are so few scholarships, and he really can't afford it, so it doesnt look like he is going. At school he is naturally gifted at maths, and after impressing the maths teacher he is called in to a secret room after class one day. In the room is the maths teacher and a group of pupils who dont exactly look like they are doing normal school work. The maths teacher has formed a class where they learn to use blackjack to make money. At first Ben says no and walks away not interested in any funny business. There is a girl called Jill in the class who caught his eye and she follows him and persuades him to change his mind.

I dont want to give away too much of the stroyline, but the group work hard and then play hard travelling to las vegas. They have success and downfalls, and the path is never smooth as we know by now! There is also a bit of romance and scandel and friendships being questioned. The film is fun and good to watch and easy to understand. It is not particularly taxing or emotional in anyway. The amount of people I know after this who have joked that they are going to teach themselves to count cards...

A lot of similar films have been released over time, and this is another good one. There is nothign to particularly set it apart from the rest, but it is good and nice and easy to watch none the less. I would recommend it for females and males alike!
