Advantages: Nice viewing, romantic
Disadvantages: Predictable
27 Dresses is, as you would expect, a light hearted romantic comedy. If you are looking for a film with depth or a complex storyline, this isn't the film for you. However, if you want a nice, loved up film to enjoy with friends or a glass of wine, this would suit you nicely.
27 Dresses tells the story of Jane (Katherine Heigl) who is always always always the bridesmaid but never the bride. She is clearly a very good bridesmaid and takes the job very seriously always going the extra mile for the brides.
The film starts with Katherine darting between weddings as she has promised to be at 2 on the same night. Journalist Kevin (James Marsden) spots this and questions her, much to her disgust. He is cynical about the whole marriage thing and really rubs Jane up the wrong way.
In the day we find out Jane s a PA and loves her boss George (Ed Burns) very much. George however, is unaware of this and despite Jane spending much of her time with him and organising his life for him, she doesn't bring herself to tell him.
Janes sister, Tess (Malin Ackerman) comes to visit and quite predictably, Tess and George hit it off. Jane is distraught and when they get engaged, she just can't believe it. She is shocked even more when it turns out cynic Kevin, writes the highly romatic wedding articles in the paper that Jane snuggles down to read each week.
Kevin spends a lot of time with Jane, Tess and George to prepare for his article and during that time, it becomes clear Jane and Kevin are falling for each other.
The film does go the way you think it will, its predictable but who cares? It will make you smile and feel good. It will definately make you appreciate why you like romantic comedys and make you want to watch more!
Summary: Easy to watch rom com
