Advantages: good film

Disadvantages: ends to quick

This film will be good for people that like films with zombies in but don't except the death toll to be to high or the killing scenes to be that great.

The plot

Basically a group of scientists have injected a family of apes with a virus of rage. Once bitten you are infected with the virus of rage in 10-20 seconds, YOU MUST BE KILLED!! Or you will turn into a "zombie" and you will want to infect more people.
Rage takes over the city.

A man wakes up, Jim (Cillian Murphy), to find that everywhere is deserted, and there is nothing around. As he tries to figure out what has happened he encounters his first "zombie"
Is this real is he still in hospital??

The man is escaping from a group of zombies and comes across two other survivors Selena (Naomi Harris) and another man, who fill him in on the details of what it going on, this is where a big explosion is, not a great explosion as the view changes to much and it really doesn't look as realistic as other films.

The following morning Jim goes out to see if his family is still alive with the two other survivors, this is where Jim comes across his second encounter with a zombie, his next-door neigh borough, this one doesn't end to well with him seeing 2 people die but who??
This is where Jim realises this s real and something has to be done with the help of the remaining survivor.

They head out and find 2 other survivors and with the help of Frank (Brendan Gleeson) they fight off there 3rd attack by zombies. Here they meet franks daughter Hannah (Megan Burns). This is where they plan their next move.

After deciding to go and find help in the form of a group of soldiers. When arriving at the checkpoint and finding that there is no one there frank gets angry and frank gets killed. This is where the soldiers turn up; you think this is where salvation this with a group of soldiers but you finds out quickly it isn't.

This I also where Jim finds out the soldiers true intentions and you see the first major zombie attack even though it isn't that good. And is over in under a minute.

A situation means that Jim has to escape from the soldiers and this is were the killing starts even though I don't understand how a man that has no training in killing can kill and out smart a group of trained soldiers, just doesn't seem like that would happen.

Jim and the two other survivors escape from the killing and find there way to safety very quickly, it feels like they needed to find an ending but the writer had cramp so decided to end it quickly.

Not the best ending but still a good film.

The music fits the film well and might give you the "jumps" at some of the scarier parts. Is very good if you have surround sound and a good bass. You can tell when something scary is about to happen as the music starts to get louder and louder and then something jumps up, I found the girl friends screams and reactions great at this point.

The make up on the infected people with rage is small with red eyes and really just a slow and dazed look with scruff clothes. I found that this is good in the film as it is how I would imagine a zombie to look like if they existed and the make up really seemed to work and give a few scares.


I have found that Jim (Cillan Murphy) is a really good actor in this film his facial expressions make you feel like you are there and he seems to fit the part very well, I enjoyed watching him as he tried to find a way to save himself. If I was waking up from a coma, to stroll outside to find that there is no one about I think I would be a whole lot more scared than he looked. The only thing that I found a bit strange about the character is how he was fine about the rage and how it happened in a quick 5 min scene I would be asking loads more questions.

Selena (Naomie Harris) finds Jim and looks after him at the start I thought that she played the part extremely well and she seemed like a character that wouldn't let anything stop her from surviving. She even mentions that staying alive is the best it gets. I think that she is a really strong character and she is also very good in other films, I love her voice when she shouts.

When frank appears (Brendan Gleeson) you think wow he must be some sort of policeman with all of his kit but no he's a good old cabbie just here to help. He seemed to bring a bit of joy to me at the time thinking that he would survive and look after his daughter, as it happens he dies.

Hannah (Megan Burns) is franks daughter who seems to play the part very well even though she doesn't really have any scenes by herself and I don't think she does any killing but the things she does like the driving you remember.

Major Henry West (Christopher Eccleston)
He made me feel relief when Jim and crew found him; you think they are all safe now and nothing could possibly go wrong, until you realise this is meant to be a horror, he turns out to be a bit of (insert word) when he says there isn't salvation and he is just planning on getting the two ladies pregnant and finding out how long the zombies last.

Zombies/Infected/others
This seems more like fun for an actor to me than acting I would love to dress up as a zombie trying to scare people. In fact I have many Halloweens ago and I think that would be an amazing experience especially on such a popular film.

I have found this film for £1.99 and there is a sequel called 28 weeks later.

I recommend that you see this film even if you don't think it is the type of film that you will like it is really different to other types of zombie horror films and I really enjoyed it hopefully you will give it a go and enjoy it
