Advantages: fast paced original, scary tense

Zombie movies have been going on for a while now and although resident evil was the best i had seen back then, it lacked that fast paced tension that 28 days later have accomplished.

I really did love this film. It is my best 'zombie' film to date, much better than 28 weeks later i think although that was still good but when compared not as good.

The plot is that after a short scene of how an infection broke out it the film skips to 28 days later and it shows a man waking up in a hospital, from being in a coma due to a car accident. As he does, as a viewer we are clueless at the time as to what is going on. The man leaves the room and notices the hospital is empty and trashed up. He shouts hello with no reply and after seeing a broken vending machine with cans of drink all over the floor, he realises how thirsty he is and drinks one in one go. I love the atmosphere at this point, so silent with the only noises coming from him as he explores this empty hospital shouting the occasional 'hello!'. After the first scene i was extrmely tense at this point. After finding the exit he walks outside to discover and abandoned London, literally. Everywhere is empty as he stumbles through the evacuated city in confusion, empty cars everywhere and trash all over the place. We learn the city was evacuated when he picks up the latest newspaper on the floor. After entering a church he meets the 'infected' - humans infecting with a virus called rage that basically makes them go crazy for human flesh. These are not your usuall zombies however, they are still the normal speed of a human. My god its so scary how fast they run and how crazy they are. After shock, the main character sprints out of the church with some of the infected after him. This is after seeing the first infected, the priest, with blood all over his face kind of retarded looking attacking the main character.Doesn't this movie sound insane so far, i love survival horrors like this one. its a great story of survival with a tense and scary atmosphere the whole way through. I loved the idea of having the main character waking up to an abandoned city. Dont miss out on this movie

I loved the idea of having the zombies to be slightly more intelligent and fast because it really picked up the tension and makes it more exciting and scary. The scene where the main charcter and the women are at the top of the spiralling stairs and they see the infected start sprinting up after them is really scary and tense. This could not have been created in a movie where zombies were as slow as those in dawn of the dead. I also LOVED the whole idea of survival and being cut off from real resources, isolated from people. if anyone has any other movies like that (not cast away alredi seen it) and they don't have to be horror please suggest them.
