Advantages: zombie film, not many about
Disadvantages: same theme as 28 days
28 weeks later is a fast paced zombie film for fans of big brother generation. The film has nothing to do with big brother, I, merely want to state the age group for this film, which I believe is 35 and under. You may have heard of another film with number 28 in it. 28 days, well this is unsurprisingly sequel and it picks up the story 28 weeks later.
Much of London was decimated by the rage shown by the 'infected', you know the zombies that roamed the streets of our believed capital city in 28 days. Zombies are dead, American soldiers are deployed to open a safe zone for the uninfected, people without bloodshot eyes.
Don (Robert Carlyle) is one of the first citizens to make it to the safe zone; with I forgot to mention two of his kids.
Don is not the bravest of souls; he is petrified to find his assumed dead wife turn up with a hint of 'she is one of them' about her.
Soon London again falls foul to this rage virus. Zombies versus American soldiers, chase, run for your lives, Americans will shoot at anything. Zombie or not.
The template for the movie is same as 28 days. Location here is primarily docklands. Cast, director, and screenplay crew have changed. Spanish Director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo is in charge of production. More bullets leave the guns here than ever before and the different scenes are shown at pace too.
Overall same theme in the movie. I am not disappointed with the sequel. It is just as good as before and the change of faces serves the film well.
I recommended it.

- 04/01/08 28 weeks later was OK, though liked the first better. The first is more one guys story and what happens to him whereas the sequel I found harder to get into for some reason. Useful review though. manda :o) |
