Advantages: Pai is a lovable character
Disadvantages: lots of dying, kinda short, unresolved ending
3x3 Eyes is a four part Original Video Animation. It is available as four separate tapes or as one tape containing all four parts(the Perfect Collection). There was a second OVA released in Japan also with four parts that continued the story. Plot: The main plot is that Pai is the last Sanjiyan, a race of beings that look like humans. Since she is the last member of her race, her greatest desire is to become human. Professor Fuji made a promoise to Pai that he would help her to become human, unfortunately, Professor Fuji died before this happened. As he was dying, he told Pai to look for his son, Yakumo, to ask for help in becoming human. The first part of the OVA deals with how Yakumo and Pai meet and how Yakumo becomes Pai's protector. Characters: Yakumo seems to be a pretty normal guy who at first, doesn't want to help Pai in becoming human. He is frustrated with the pressure his father placed on him by asking him to help Pai. However, as the OVA progresses, he comes to care for Pai and for helping her become human. Pai is a more interesting character. While most of the time she acts like an average teenage girl, she periodically shows the Sanjiyan inside her as a third eye appears on her forehead and she speaks in a much more serious voice. DIE!: During this four part OVA, Yakumo gets 'killed' many times. Yakumo doesn't actually die, but he gets beaten up over and over again while fighting to protect Pai. The fight scenes, mostly against monsters, are violent and get bloody. Because of this, I would recommend the OVA for ages 13 and older. Overall: This is a suspense/action show with small bits of humor. I liked this anime because Pai is such an interesting and lovable character. There's something about how she wants to become human that makes her so human. Also, there's something interesting about her wanting to become human when as a Sanjiyan, she is much more powerful th
an a human. It's really a touching tale about how a girl who isn't normal, wants to become normal.
