Ju-On - The Grudge (DVD) ... as he might - and Lord knows he has tried awful hard - still, despite the seemingly endless run of remakes and sequels and addendums and what have you, Takashi Shimizu has failed to diminish the power of his 2003 instant-classic Ju-On : The Grudge. Remade by Sam Raimi s Ghost House production company (and again directed by Shimizu) as simply The Grudge, the film is itself a remake of Shimizu s earlier (and, if truth be told, better - but a DVD release still eludes us) TV movie Ju-On : The Curse. Heroes - Complete Season 2 (DVD) ... the sheer awesoneness of season one, I was almost salivating at the prospoect of another helping of ensemble superhero drama pudding to come along and clog up my entertainment arteries. Then what happened? The bloody writers strike. As a budding writer myself I thoroughly understand the plight of the writer, but dammit I need my entertainment. A lot of my favourite shows were effected by the strike including Heroes. While season one was sublime, well paced and exciting, season two was a shoddy rehash of the first with a new threat and not much else.
