The Taking of Pelham 123 [2009] (DVD) ... is the 2009 remake of the 1974 movie of the same name. Directed by Brian Helgeland and based on the novel by John Godey. The story is set in the subway system of New York as a train is held with all of its passengers as hostages. The train is derailed on a hill in the subway system and the leader of the gang Ryder (John Travolta) who has recently been released from prison demands payment of 10 million dollars which he wants delivering to the train within the hour. Ryder kills a couple of the passengers just to convince the authorities he means business. The Replacement Killers (DVD) ... movie is not brilliant but it s not terrible either. There is some good acting and decent action and humour scattered in the film. It is worth watching but won t blow you away or rather didn t with me anyway when I watched it recently. John Lee is played by Chow Yun-Fat and plays the character or an assassin. His big problem is that on this occassion he has been asked to kill someone he really doesn t want to kill which leaves him with a dilemma that no assassion would want. He really can t do it. Sin City (DVD) ... City is in the film noir genre and is based on the graphic comic books written by Frank Miller. It focuses on the stories of several characters some good and some bad in the dark streets and back alleys of Sin City where violence and corruption go hand in hand.
