Asdf1 Star Trek: The Original Series Vol. 08: Menagerie 1 & 2 (DVD)
... was the only two parter in the original series of Star Trek and is I would say a multi layered story. Gene Roddenberry very cleverly incorporates most of his rejected pilot episode The Cage into the script. Mr. Spock commanders the enterprise to help his former Captain Christopher Pike (he does this by kidnapping him). This leads to him being court martialled (after he voluntarily hands himself in) and on the video screen is where we see a lot of rather long segments of the pilot as evidence being played.
