Advantages: Great film, Very emotional film , excellent Special effects

Disadvantages: None

I know that many people are talking about the movie and what to expect of it but I was lucky enough to get the chance to watch this movie before it comes out in the United Kingdom.

What is AI?
--------------

Just to give you tell you what AI stand for is Artificial Intelligence. A computerised life being which can actually think for it self. Well there is better definition in the dictionary that I think most of you can find on the web.

The Setting
---------------

It set in mid 21st century where global warming has melted wide scope of the polar ice burgs and the future is held by AI computer, where there restriction on human populations.

Story Line
-------------

Well the story start off in an institute of a company called MECCA who creates computer robotic humanoids. At this scene you see Professor Allen Hobby (William Hurt) talking to his work colleagues about creating a child robot that will be able to show loved. Also it will be a substitute for the organic child where couples are not allowed to have.

So the professor searches the company employee profile to look for a suitable couple to take this prototype child and to see what reaction they would get. After an intensive search they came up with the Swintons family.

The situation with the Swintons is that there son is cryogenically frozen due to some king of disease which they have not yet find a cure for.

The parents visit there son everyday in the hospital but find it hard to grieve for there child. The father Henry Swinton (Sam Robards) is so involved of finding a cure for his child that he fogotten about his wife.

The doctor advised Mr Swinton to take more care of his wife Monica Swinton (Frances O'Connor) as she is having a hard time dealing with the situation.

So one day Henry returns home to his wife with a surprise and that surprise is the child robot named David (Haley Joel Osment).
To his wife amazement she saw the child and did not what to say in front of him. Her husband explain to his wife what has happened and that the company have given this child for them to keep forever.

His wife flip out in anger saying that this child does not replace their own child and that he should take him back. So her husband agrees to take him back after tomorrow and told his wife to look after him. As the day goes along she start to fell very fond of David and then decides to keep him.

But there was a few rules to keep David, once they agreed to the terms which were that if they no longer wanted him they would have to return him to MECCA to be destroyed.

So Monica say the words to keep David forever

CIRRUS, SOCRATES, PARTICLES, DECIBEL, HURRICANE, DOLPHIN, TULIP

And the first words that came out of David mouth was mummy I love you!

A very touching scene to see the mother cry and hug her new born child.

Then one day the Swintons were going out to a dinner and they had to leave David on his own. What happens is that Monica get a bit worried about David and has an idea to give him a present that belong to her real son. She gives David a Super toy called Teddy (voice by Jack Angel). Teddy is a child toy play friend who is also a robot and can walk and talk like normal people. He helps David to understand what things are going on and becomes a close friend to him.

Then one day out of the blue Monica gets a call from Henry to say that their real son Martin Swinton (Jake Thomas) has been cured.
Then after a while as their injured son recovers he then makes friend with David but not with good intentions.

As David is shown the bad habits of being a kid, he gets himself into a lot of trouble and at a birthday party he nearly drowned his brother. As this incident happens the Swintons are scared of David and they decieded that he might cause a lot of Harm.

Even though what Dav
id did was not his fault Monica could not send him back to be destroyed, as she loved him very much. So she tell David that they’re going to go to the park for a picnic in the morning.

That morning came and they reached the park and both of them got out but there was no picnic. Monica tried to explain to David that she is leaving him there and that her sohuld not to come back. She told him to stay with his own kind.

I’m sorry to say that this scene is very distressing see! But was really well shot and planed out by (Steven Spielberg Producers).

(NOT A GOOD SCENE FOR LITTLE CHILDREN)

But from there he tell Monica (mummy I want to be a real boy just like Pinocchio and seeking for the blue fairy so that he could tell her to make Him real) she tried to explain to David but he just does not understand.

(Just like a little kid lost and confused!)

So Monica leaves him and re-warns him to stay away from humans and drives off. Mean while David is lost and confused in the forest and he is accompanied by Teddy.

From here you will see David searching for the Blue fairy to make him real boy and on the way he meets a few other robot and one in special Gigolo Joe (Jude Law). Joe is a pleasure robot for women and her husband has murdered his wife and Joe is reported for it.

Rather than me giving the entire story away you must go and see this movie. As form here you will see a great tale of adventure and excitement.

Special Effect
------------------

Throughout the whole film you will see some stunning effect done for this movie as well as animated graphic for the background scenarios. There is so much detail put into the film that must have took a lot of time to create.

Overall
---------

This film had a great impact on me on what if thing like these really do happen in the future. (Probably after my generation) But what it made me think about was th
at every life makedshould always be respected regardless of our arrogance. I must admit this film is really good but not the best of Producers (Steven Spielberg) but another one added to all of his hits. My all time favourite would have to be ET

Please don’t be put off by this film it really does have such a great feel and sadness about it. Another touching film which will warm your hearts. I don’t think that this film is aimed at the children as I said before they’re a few disturbing scenes.

9/10
