Those unfamiliar with the work of Shane Meadows, then you need to start watching a few more films! His films reflect an authentic slice of English life, more locally a slice of Nottingham life. A Room For Romeo Brass came hot on the heels of the excellent twentyfourseven, a small scale British film telling the story of small time people with very simple lives. A Room For Romeo Brass centres around two adolescents Romeo Brass (Andrew Shim) and Gavin Woolley (Ben Marshall). I recently became a big fan of Shane Meadows film, having thoroughly enjoyed Dead Man's Shoes and Made in England, I decided to play catch up on the films made by this Staffordshire born director that I hadn't seen, starting off with one of his early films - A Room For Romeo Brass. Released in 1998, children are the main stars of this film with Andrew Shim (Made in England) as Romeo Brass and Ben Marshall as Gavin "Knocks" Woolley, Paddy Considine (Dead Man's Shoes, Hot Fuzz) is another superb actor in this film who plays a sometimes hillarious yet also often freakish and scary geeky character.
