... at times it was a bit weird, but I'm sure it all makes sense to any avid fan. Although it doesn't sound like many fans liked this movie very much. I thought the action was decent, hardly Matrix standard but fun to watch nevertheless, and although the acting was a bit wooden at times, I don't feel it really ruined the movie. There was enough going on to keep it interesting, even if it wasn't groundbreaking or original in any way. That said, there were a few interesting ideas of future technology that I'd not seen befo...more

Premium Review Aeon Flux (2005) (DVD): Aeon Flux - enthralling (381 words)

Firstly, I'll admit that I rented this film on the purely superficial and shallow basis that Charlize Theron looked brilliant in the promotional pics and trailers for this film. However, I have to say that it delivered purely as a film on its own. STORYLINE The storyline is not bad at all. The film is basically, a post-apocalyptic femme fatale movie. We enter a world, known as Bregna which on the face of it is Utopia, a perfect society. The film takes place 400 years into the future and Bregna is what is left of the world after a virus wiped out ninety percent of the population. Now the world is regulated by a group of scientists who descend from the ...

Premium Review Average although I sat down and watched it (228 words)

Synopsis In the 21st century (2011) 90 per cent of human population is wiped out from a virus, remaining 10 percent built a city where they live. The film is actually set 400 years in the future from 2011. The city they live in is Bregna. It is ruled by a group of scientists. Some of the citizens form an anti group to the rulers. Aeon Flux is the assassin of this group. She is entrusted with a top class assignment to assassinate the current ruler. Promising plot but it fails to deliver really. Thing stopping this film from being a good one is the script. Theron plays the main character, and she is damn good with all the ...

Crowned Review Aeon Flux (2005) (DVD): Is it supposed to be a comedy? (1216 words)

Aeon Flux. It’s very rare that I see a film I hate (only Cutthroat Island and Battlefield Earth have ever received one star from me), but in this absolutely awful sci-fi action flick, we have another. Maybe the fact that I had just seen the brilliant Crash biased my judgement, but I couldn’t help feeling that in the same day I had watched the best and worst film of the last year. As soon as the credits said it was an MTV production I knew we were heading for bad things. However, I was still surprised at just how dire the next 90 minutes would be, since it has a promising cast and a half-decent idea. Apparently it’s based on a cartoon which used to be on ...
