Advantages: good pacing action, great acting
Disadvantages: too short
Harrison Ford has been one of my favorite actors since Star Wars and watching him play both parts as Indiana Jones made me admire him even more. Finding out he is in Air Force One just made me have to watch this and I wasn't let down at all. Here's a little about the film. Ford is the United States president who done time as a soldier in the gulf war. He has been trained well and being the president, naturally doesn't like submitting to terrorists. His plane (Air Force One, hence the name) is specially made to be able to carry the president to saftey at all times with it's mid-air re-fueling system and anti-missle radar. It is state of the art but with a litle bribery it is taken over by Russian terrorists and their demands is that they release their Russian anti-christ leader who has been jailed by the Russians. Glenn Close plays the U.S. Vice-President who handles the terrorists demands. She is a very good actress and makes her part very belivable. She belives in doing what the president would want to do while the Secretary of Defence just wants to blow everything up (as you do) but she sets him straight. Gary Oldman (as usual) plays the mad terrorist who kills anyone and everyone because he believes in the cause he's fighting for. At times he tries to seem compassionate and other times ruthless and as a spectator my emotions soared. I was rooting for the good guys and hoping the bad guys would get their's. A Quick Summary The whole plot is pretty straightforward and sufficient to the film's standards. Ford is the President, and Air Force One is hijacked by Russian terrorists. It is up to Ford to save his family and the integrity of the country, keeping the action pretty high throughout the film. This is pretty much what the film rides on. In between the action, this movie focuses on the inner personalities of the characters and the character's connections with each other in the film
. This is where the cast takes over makes this film work on the inside. In my opinion you should give this film a go. You can get in in most video shops for almost nothing and I'm pretty sure you won't regret it. I have seen it several times and I still love it. This movie is a good one for the video collection.
