Advantages: Cast
Disadvantages: Double Sided, No Extras
The story is based on the hijacking of Air Force One by "Russian/Communist Block" Terrorists who want the release of a General from prison. Harrison Ford is the American President and plays it in a similar fashion to the "Jack Ryan" character! We shall not negoiate with terrorists! Gary Oldman plays the baddie! The film has a lot of action with some of the action being realistic, however at times you can see the joins between the "model" and the "real" plane. The characters are not really developed very well and at times the plot is a bit thin. I brought the DVD for £9.99 thinking it would be good value! The disc was double sided, single layered with no extras. Having to turn the disc over half way through was a bit annoying. It just goes to show that you should read the box. I would buy the DVD again for the action and film, but I would ensure that the DVD was Dual Layered and check out any extras.

- 09/08/02 Whether a disc is dual layered (e.g. DVD-9) or not has little relevance to whether a film is a 'flipper'. Also, just because a disc is double-sided (e.g. DVD-10 or more rarely DVD-18) does not mean it is a flipper either, since sometimes the other side simply contains extras or a different version of the film (different language, aspect ratio, etc.).
Thankfull y, flippers are rare on the UK market and becoming rarer. Seems like just bad luck on this purchase. Another major flipper is Starship Troopers (which has since been re-released anyway). |
