... a friend down your local for a few pints and a giggle. He talks directly to the audience about life in the UK, nearly everyone can relate to having a bad job, date or family. He jokes about his appearance, his voice, anything that will secure a laugh at his expense. He is not ashamed to mention topics that have probably been difficult times in this life, the way his teeth became crooked, how disappointed his dad felt that he wasnt good at football and his receeding hairline. He starts to build up characters...more

Premium Review Alan Carr - Tooth Fairy LIVE (DVD): A must-see! (545 words)

Alan Carr's back with his distinctive brand of sarcastic & camp humour in this DVD of the last stop of his 2007 tour in the world famous Hammersmith Apollo. First off if you have seen Alan Carr in one of his TV shows or course his stand up shows then where have you been? Alan Carr seems to be everywhere these days, on the Friday Night Project which has now changed to the Sunday Night Project in which him & good friend Justin Lee Collins are the perfect double act to present this rude & crude late night entertainment show. Alan also has his own show that he presents called 'Alan Carr's Celebrity Ding Dong' in which two teams of celebrities go head ...  Read the complete review

Last year my work colleagues and I operated the obligatory "Secret Santa", and I was over the moon to be given Alan Carr's first stand-up dvd (I say first because I cant find anymore online). Tooth Fairy live in a recording of his stand-up show performed at the Hammersmith Apollo. A vast number of comedy shows are coming out of the venue, and is reaping even more positive press by hosting Jack Dee's "Live at The Apollo", which features numerous comedians. The DVD itself is one single disc, with the cover showing Alan's geeky face and toothy smile. Alan's humour is a blend of self deprecation and regional ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Alan Carr - Tooth Fairy LIVE (DVD): Went into Dixons and came out with a pony What am i like. (283 words)

Alan Carr, we all known of him by now his residence on Channel 4 hosting a variety of shows has gradually made him a household name to a degree. First impressions of Alan Carr where that of being overpowered and finding him almost grating, for me the telly shows we're good but nothing special and i soon lost interest. 2 years later i decided in a time of comedy abyss to purchase some standup dvds i'd not seen and on impulse, seeing Tooth Fairy at a cheap price online i purchased and awaited to be won over, perhaps in the process expecting not to like it, well i was proven wrong. Alan Carr breezes on stage in his all too familiar camp styled, geeky ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Camp and bubbly stand up comedy (293 words)

THE COMEDIAN: Alan Carr is a comedian whose star is rising at the moment; his autobiography was a bestseller over Christmas, and you can't switch the telly on without seeing his camp little face pop up. My own experience with him started when I saw him on the Friday Night project, but he was too over the top for me, and I soon switched over. It would have ended there but then my best friends went to see the 'tooth fairy live' tour, and spoke so highly of it, I just had to watch the DVD. WHAT IS IT ABOUT: Alan Carr is a stand up comedian; he's very camp and bubbly, and uses his disarming personality to break you into fits of laughter. His working ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Alan Carr - Tooth Fairy LIVE (DVD): Give us a smile! (201 words)
by - written on 18/01/09 (Very useful, 25 readings)

Performed at the Apollo, the Mecca of all comedy, this slapstick comedian has truly outdone himself in this genius performance, written by the brilliant Alan Carr. Flashbacking with extreme description of his childhood and upbringing, Alan Carr brings his audience to tears with laughter with his extreme gift of quick witt, unforgetable and undeniable excellence. He is the perfect example as to why comedians don't need to use vulgar or offensive material to take comedy and leave it gasping for air with his unmissable stand up routine! Alan Carr has to be one of the comedians where you know that his physical apprearance just has to be the ...  Read the complete review
