Advantages: Generally exciting plot, with awesome missions, action scenes and disguises Disadvantages: Sometimes a little too tacky Sydney Bristow is a CIA agent working undercover at a secret government organisation SD-6 that poses as being a secret branch of the CIA. She speaks various languages, she goes all over the world, she frequently changes her apperance, she kicks ass and whilst all of this is going on, she still looks fabulous. Jennifer Garner is an excellent lead actress, being able to portray a range of emotions during the appropriate scenes, with Ron Rifkin being incredible at playing a suave but sinister bad guy. The romance with Michael Vartan's character is predictable but the chemistry between Garner and Vartan makes it convincing. Kevin Weisman provides great humour, which makes "Alias" so much more fun to watch. There are great sub-plots, and the main focus of the show, Milo Rambaldi, might not be to everyone's liking but for me, it makes the show more creative and addictive. The choreography is generally outstanding, although more hand-to-hand combat would have been better. There are some ridiculous, unrealistic elements, a lot of this can be forgiven by looking at so many fantastic disguises that Sydney Bristow puts up with every mission, flying off to a series of great-looking cities. Summary: An excellent first season that introduces everything |
